Driver – Transport Department

About the role

The University of the Western Cape is seeking an experienced driver to join its Transport Department. The role involves supporting the movement of staff, students, visitors and documents across the main campus while ensuring vehicle safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and deliver documents, staff, students and visitors as required.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections, record any damage and report irregularities.
• Refuel university vehicles and ensure they remain in good condition.
• Book vehicle trips using the electronic booking system and verify driver licences.
• Perform any additional tasks delegated by the line manager.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar driving role.
• Valid Code 10 driver’s licence held for more than two years.
• Valid PRDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
