Document Controller for Design & Architectural Firm

About the role

An established interior architecture practice in Rosebank, Johannesburg is seeking an experienced and highly organised Document Controller. You will ensure project documentation is accurately managed, controlled and distributed throughout the design and construction process, working closely with internal teams, clients, consultants and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the company’s document control and filing processes.
• Manage, maintain and track project documentation and drawings from initiation through to completion.
• Ensure all documents and drawings are correctly named, version‑controlled and easily accessible.
• Issue drawings and project documentation to clients, consultants and contractors as required.
• Maintain comprehensive drawing and document registers, including MIDPs and TIDPs.
• Maintain structured digital and hard‑copy filing systems and project folders for design, review and construction stages.
• Create and maintain Excel‑based registers, trackers and reporting tools.
• Carry out QA/QC and final document checks prior to issuing drawings.
• Manage comments, revisions and project comment trackers.
• Assist with document‑related queries from stakeholders via email and telephone.

Required profile

• 3–5 years’ experience in document control, project administration or a related role within construction, architecture or interior design.
• Relevant degree, diploma or tertiary qualification in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management or a related field (advantageous).
• Proven experience using Aconex and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Experience with MIDPs and TIDPs.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
