District Officer – Grass Cutting & Vegetation Control

About the role

The District Officer (Coastal) will lead grass cutting and vegetation control activities within the municipality’s coastal districts. The role involves planning, monitoring and reporting on environmental projects to ensure compliance with municipal policies and safety standards. The officer will also coordinate with provincial project funds and ensure all activities align with environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement vegetation control plans, conduct baseline assessments and monitor ongoing operations.
• Prepare and compile district finance, capital, revenue and rural development project reports.
• Oversee administration of the vegetation control section, including time‑keeping, production control, safety procedures and personnel management.
• Chair disciplinary, production and safety meetings and coordinate contract work, tender documentation and onsite inspections.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or Environmental Studies.
• Valid B/EB driver’s licence.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in environmental or vegetation control work.
