Dispensary Support Learnership – Basic Pharmacist Assistant

About the role

Dis-Chem Liberty Promenade is recruiting learners for its learner basic pharmacist assistant course. The opportunity starts as fixed-term dispensary support work until the applicant registers with the South African Pharmacy Council as a learner basic assistant. Permanent employment is offered only after qualification as a basic pharmacist assistant. The advertised position is entry level, for people with little or no experience.

Key responsibilities

• Complete the learner basic pharmacist assistant course and the required registration process.
• Assist with dispensing-related activities under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Help with stock receiving, packing, shelf cleanliness and expiry-date control.
• Support patient script tracking and customer service.
• Follow pharmacy standard operating procedures and legal requirements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric or Senior Certificate).
• Pure Mathematics at least 50%, and Life Science and/or Physical Science, with an overall average of at least 50%.
• South African citizen.
• Pass the proficiency assessment for Pharmacy Council learner-basic registration.
• Clear criminal and credit checks.
• Ability to read, write and speak English and a second language.
