Dispatch Clerk – Johannesburg Depot

About the role

The Dispatch Clerk reports to the Operations Manager and works at the Johannesburg depot of FP du Toit Transport. The role involves coordinating daily shipments, overseeing warehouse activities and ensuring accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate daily with the Operations team about scheduled shipments and report any loading issues.
• Compare waybills and client documents with freight loaded or delivered.
• Oversee sorting, verification, packing and labelling of consignments by destination.
• Supervise the loading team to ensure efficient vehicle loading and off‑loading according to procedures.
• Identify and report freight damages or inadequate packaging immediately.
• Assist with loading using a forklift when required.
• Maintain warehouse housekeeping while adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Enforce security measures, including inspections and quality checks.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years experience as a Dispatch Clerk, preferably in transport or logistics.
• Proficient computer skills; SAP knowledge is an advantage.
• Valid forklift licence with practical warehouse experience.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Afrikaans.
• Willingness to work overtime and shift work.
• High attention to detail, reliability and strong communication.
• South African citizenship.
