Director of Corporate Support Services

About the role

The Director of Corporate Support Services will lead a multi‑disciplinary department that provides strategic, administrative and financial support to Gamagara Local Municipality. This senior permanent position reports directly to the Municipal Manager and is responsible for ensuring that all corporate services align with the municipality’s overall strategy and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and provide strategic leadership for functions including human resources, ICT, registry, administrative services, facilities management, council support and financial management.
• Develop, supervise and implement operational policies and ensure compliance with all relevant local‑government legislation.
• Oversee risk management systems, internal and external communications, departmental performance and budgetary planning, including the SDBIP and IDP programmes.
• Coordinate transformation and organisational development initiatives across the municipality.
• Provide inputs for departmental budgeting and monitor financial controls and systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, management sciences, law or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of middle‑management experience with proven administration leadership.
• Compliance with the MFMA and ability to meet unit‑standard competency levels within 18 months if initially lacking.
• Registration with the relevant professional body or institution.
