Director, Merchant Sales and Solutions

About the role

Visa is seeking a Director of Merchant Sales and Solutions to lead the adoption of a new mobile payment solution across West Central African markets. The role combines strategic merchant acquisition, partnership development, and regional payment‑industry advocacy to grow Visa’s transaction volume and market share.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a merchant acceptance and partner strategy that increases Visa MSV, market share, and data‑processing revenue.
• Collaborate with the Head of Merchant Sales & Acquiring and Country Managers to implement the three‑year Nano Merchant Acceptance Strategy.
• Drive acceptance of Visa payment solutions across key business segments, focusing on top‑tier and marquee merchants.
• Secure and close strategic deals with fintech companies to transform the payments landscape in the region.
• Lead negotiations of large‑scale partnerships with key clients and partners to meet strategic imperatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with fintechs, merchants, client banks, and third‑party partners.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in merchant sales, acquiring, or payments within African markets.
• Deep understanding of regional regulatory and industry dynamics.
• Strong track record of negotiating and closing high‑value strategic partnerships.
• Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder‑management skills.
