Digital Marketing Strategist – Remote (Cape Town)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency is expanding its marketing division and seeks a Digital Marketing Strategist to lead strategy, performance and client‑facing leadership across paid search, paid social, SEO and conversion optimisation. The role blends strategic planning with hands‑on oversight, working remotely with clients in the US, Canada and South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy for PPC and SEO clients across multiple industries and build 90‑day, 6‑month and annual growth roadmaps.
• Join sales calls with account executives to validate scope, pitch technical recommendations and help close deals.
• Own client performance on Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Advertising and organic search, auditing campaigns, keyword strategies, bidding structures and CRO opportunities.
• Oversee technical SEO, on‑page optimisation, link building, programmatic pages and AI‑driven content.
• Track KPIs, conversion attribution and analytics accuracy, providing weekly direction, QA and coordinating priorities with the marketing project manager.
• Present monthly and quarterly performance summaries to clients.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of experience in PPC, SEO or multi‑channel full‑funnel strategy.
• Proven ability to run paid and organic channels simultaneously and to diagnose performance issues quickly.
• Experience managing execution teams, ensuring deliverable quality and influencing sales outcomes.
• Strong communication skills, capable of simplifying complex marketing ideas for clients.
