Digital Graphic Designer

About the role

Takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is seeking a Digital Graphic Designer to join its Marketing team in Cape Town. You will create compelling visual assets for retail media solutions, supporting the brand’s fast‑paced growth and e‑commerce initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design digital assets such as display banners, video clips, CRM graphics, and social media posts.
• Develop retail‑media go‑to‑market materials including pitch decks, flyers and promotional graphics.
• Stay updated on emerging design technologies, trends and generative AI tools to produce cutting‑edge work.
• Collaborate with design, marketing, retail and promotions teams to ensure brand consistency and timely delivery.
• Storyboard concepts, add motion‑graphics effects, and incorporate feedback from senior stakeholders.
• Document processes to improve design‑retail media collaboration and prioritisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Design.
• 3–5 years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in a digital or retail environment.
• Strong self‑management, communication and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience using After Effects or similar animation/video software.
• Solid understanding of digital and mobile design principles, typography, colour and composition.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite; knowledge of generative AI prompting is a plus.
