Diagnostic Technician

About the role

We are seeking a manufacturer‑certified Mercedes‑Benz Diagnostic / Systems Technician to join the After‑Sales team at our franchised dealership in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. The role involves independently diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle systems to Mercedes‑Benz factory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical and system faults using Mercedes‑Benz Star Diagnosis and Xentry.
• Perform software programming, coding, parameterisation, system calibration and software updates.
• Interpret fault codes, live data, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Complete repairs following Mercedes‑Benz factory procedures, quality checks and road tests.
• Prepare accurate job cards, warranty documentation and repair reports.
• Support Service Advisors with technical findings and parts identification.
• Mentor junior technicians and maintain a clean, safe workshop environment.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) and qualified Motor Vehicle Technician.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Mercedes‑Benz technician in an authorised dealership.
• Mandatory Mercedes‑Benz certifications: Maintenance Technician Certificate, Systems Pathway A/B/C, Diagnostic Technician Certificate.
