DevOps Engineer

About the role

Red & Yellow Creative School of Business, South Africa’s leading digital marketing education provider, is looking for a motivated, presentable and friendly DevOps Engineer. You will join the IT team to design, implement and support secure, scalable infrastructure across Linux, container, networking and Azure/M365 environments, working closely with the Head of Technology.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Administer Linux‑based systems and Docker/container environments.
• Manage networking and firewalling, including VLANs, firewall rules and WireGuard VPNs.
• Support identity and access integrations using SAML and OIDC.
• Configure and maintain Azure Portal, Azure cloud services, Azure AD, Microsoft 365 and Intune.
• Set up and manage NGINX reverse‑proxy and load‑balancing configurations.
• Own monitoring and alerting using Zabbix.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, connectivity, authentication and performance issues.
• Collaborate with development and IT teams to improve reliability, security and automation.
• Document systems, standards and operational procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant IT degree (e.g., BSc Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in DevOps, infrastructure or systems engineering roles.
• Strong troubleshooting and production‑support mindset.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Security‑conscious approach to designing access patterns.
