Developer Portal & Community Manager

About the role

This role sits at the heart of an open‑hardware product’s developer ecosystem. Based in South Africa, you will own the Developer Portal and act as the bridge between engineering teams and the global community, turning complex technical work into clear, public documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Own, structure, and continuously improve the Developer Portal, keeping it accurate, organized and useful for external contributors.
• Translate internal engineering discussions, technical updates and product changes into clear public documentation.
• Maintain and organize wiki pages, GitHub repositories and other developer‑facing resources across multiple sub‑projects.
• Participate in engineering meetings to stay aligned with development work and product direction.
• Moderate community contributions, discussions, issues and pull requests to ensure quality and constructive collaboration.
• Collect and synthesize feedback from the developer community and relay insights back to internal teams.
• Help developers navigate the portal, contribute effectively and engage with the ecosystem.

Required profile

• Excellent written communication with a proven ability to produce clear technical documentation, guides or README‑style content.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to extract key insights from technical discussions.
• Comfortable working closely with engineers across hardware and software domains.
• Organizational mindset focused on structure, clarity and information architecture.
• Genuine interest in developer tools, open‑source ecosystems and build‑in‑public development culture.
