Desktop Motor Assessor – Insurance Claims

About the role

The Desktop Motor Assessor is responsible for digitally evaluating vehicle damage and loss to determine accurate repair costs and safe repair methods. The role supports both internal and external customers while building strong relationships with repairers via telephone.

Key responsibilities

• Assess vehicle damage digitally, ensuring cost‑effective and safe repair recommendations.
• Follow established operational processes and adjust settings to meet performance standards.
• Provide telephone‑based customer service, handling complex queries and resolving issues.
• Maintain and develop relationships with service providers, repairers, and customers.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement of assessment workflows.
• Prepare accurate assessment reports and negotiate repair scopes and costs with both contracted and non‑contracted repairers.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or SAQA‑accredited equivalent (essential).
• Qualified Panel Beater or Spray Painter with a Red Seal (essential).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an insurance motor assessor.
• At least 5 years of experience after obtaining a trade certificate.
• Experience with short‑term insurance client relationship management.
• Mechanical Engineering N2/N3 level (advantageous).

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Abuntex assessment platform (advantageous).
