About the role
The Municipality seeks a Deputy Manager – Communication (PL3) to lead media strategy, stakeholder engagement and internal communications. The role requires managing the municipality’s public image and supporting senior officials with effective communication.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement media strategies to enhance visibility and reputation.
- Draft, edit and disseminate media statements, public notices and speeches.
- Coordinate press conferences, media briefings and interviews for political leadership.
- Monitor media coverage, compile reports and advise on emerging trends.
Required profile
- Grade 12 and a bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in communication or journalism, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to work irregular hours.
- Knowledge of Municipal Systems Act, MFMA and Batho Pele principles.
Required skills
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience with media monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with digital platforms for communication.
