About the role
The Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in the Asset Forfeiture Unit will lead high‑profile civil and criminal litigation on behalf of the State. This senior legal position requires independent decision‑making, strong advocacy, and the ability to mentor junior staff.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake and supervise civil and criminal litigation related to asset forfeiture.
- Represent the State in all courts, drafting applications and heads of argument.
- Train, mentor and provide guidance to junior staff and manage regional office matters.
Required profile
- LLB degree; admitted attorney and/or advocate with right of appearance under the NPA Act.
- At least ten years post‑qualification experience in civil or criminal litigation.
- Demonstrated ability to act independently, professionally, and with credibility.
- Strong advocacy, legal drafting, and analytical skills; knowledge of asset forfeiture law is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel and work extended hours.
