Debtors Accountant

About the role

The Debtors Accountant will manage all accounts‑receivable activities for Nando’s South Africa, ensuring timely processing of payments, accurate billing and strong relationships with franchisees and third‑party partners.

Key responsibilities

• Process incoming payments, maintain the billing system and handle billings from IT and cashbook.
• Carry out billing, collection and reporting against set deadlines, including loading international payments for authorisation.
• Perform account reconciliations, monitor non‑payments or delayed payments and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Liaise regularly with franchisees, insurance brokers and licence brokers to maintain healthy business relationships.
• Maintain accurate accounts‑receivable records, prepare monthly metrics and support month‑end closing.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, VAT requirements and company procedures, and provide documentation for audits.

Required profile

• Diploma or NQF Level 6 qualification in accounting, financial management or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in finance, preferably with exposure to debtors/creditors and cashbook management.
• Clean credit record.
• Advantageous: B.Com degree (NQF Level 7) and experience with SAGE X3.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of VAT regulations.
• Familiarity with an accounting package, specifically SAGE X3.
