Data Engineer – Design and Build Modern Data Pipelines

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a global financial services group in Gauteng. The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining modern data pipelines and data products that are reliable, well‑governed and aligned with business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain data solutions using Python, SQL and PySpark.
• Design, develop, test and monitor scalable batch and streaming pipelines on Databricks and AWS.
• Implement and enhance data quality checks.
• Apply engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment and operational support.
• Ensure all solutions comply with security and governance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience designing, building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud data environment.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Spark / PySpark and Databricks.
• Working knowledge of AWS and understanding of data modelling and transformation.
