Data Engineer – Advanced Data Pipelines

About the role

The Data Engineer will lead the design and delivery of large‑scale data pipelines that integrate market, reference and investment data for Prescient Fund Services. You will work in a regulated financial environment, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient and secure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement complex data pipelines, handling high‑volume processing, transformations, reconciliation and performance optimisation.
• Act as a technical authority, reviewing code and designs, and evolving data engineering standards and reusable frameworks.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers, guiding problem‑solving, solution design and operational readiness.
• Engage with business stakeholders, architects and analysts to translate regulatory and business requirements into technical designs.
• Collaborate with Data and IT Architects to align solutions with enterprise architecture, data governance and auditability.
• Own production pipelines, set up monitoring, lead root‑cause analysis and drive continuous improvement in reliability and performance.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of data engineering experience in complex enterprise environments.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale data integration initiatives.
• Experience in financial services (asset management, fund services, banking) is advantageous.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.

Required skills

• Modern programming in Python, Java or JavaScript.
• Data integration frameworks such as Synatic, n8n or similar.
• Advanced ETL/ELT, orchestration and scheduling tools.
• Strong knowledge of hybrid on‑premises and AWS cloud architectures.
• Understanding of integration patterns, performance optimisation and data‑quality frameworks.
