About the role

The Eastern Cape Department of Health is seeking 239 Data Capturers on a five‑month contract to support health facilities across the province. This entry‑level position is ideal for candidates with a Grade 12 qualification and basic computer skills who can work quickly and accurately.

Key responsibilities

Capture and update health data on computer systems, including the DHIS database.
Validate data for correctness and completeness.
Compile routine statistics and reports for management.
File and retrieve records to support reporting requirements.
Provide basic administrative and record‑keeping assistance to health facilities.

Required profile

National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) – no further experience required.
Basic knowledge of administrative processes and good numeracy.
Ability to work fast, accurately and communicate effectively.

Required skills

Data entry proficiency.
Familiarity with the DHIS (District Health Information System) platform.
