Data Analyst – Aviation (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established aviation organisation in Pretoria, is looking for a Data Analyst on a 12‑month contract. The role focuses on turning raw data into clear, actionable insights using advanced Excel techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean and consolidate data from multiple sources into reliable datasets.
• Build and maintain advanced Excel models, dashboards and reporting tools.
• Design and automate recurring reports using formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA and Power Query.
• Analyse trends, patterns and anomalies to support operational and business decisions.
• Present findings and recommendations to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity and version control across reporting processes.
• Collaborate with various departments to understand data needs and improve reporting efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes through smarter Excel‑based solutions.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Relevant qualification in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance or Business Analytics (advantageous).
• Prior experience as a data or reporting analyst working with large, complex datasets.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate data into business insight.
• Experience in aviation, logistics or related industry is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (formulas, INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, array formulas).
• Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts.
• Power Query / Power Pivot.
• Macros/VBA automation.
• Data validation, conditional formatting and dashboard design.
• Familiarity with Power BI and SQL (advantageous).
