Cyber Security Specialist

About the role

The Cyber Security Specialist will protect Transnet’s digital environment by monitoring, detecting, and mitigating threats. You will work closely with the Information Security Architect and business stakeholders to ensure the organisation’s security posture remains robust and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor networks for security breaches and investigate incidents.
• Analyse and manage security tools such as firewalls and data‑encryption programs.
• Prepare detailed reports on security incidents and their impact.
• Conduct penetration testing to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Research emerging IT security trends and develop security standards and best practices.
• Recommend security enhancements to senior ICT staff and create user awareness programmes.
• Collaborate on security architecture changes and maintain compliance with the Transnet Information Security Framework.
• Develop and roll out a project security risk template for all new and existing projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in information security analysis or a similar cyber‑security role.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks, risk assessment, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to promote security initiatives.
