Customer Assistant – Tills & Foods (Waterstone S/W)

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant working at tills and food sections in the Waterstone S/WEST store. You will be the first point of contact for shoppers, handling transactions, promoting loyalty programmes and offering additional services such as utility bill payments.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly at all till points to create a friendly shopping experience.
• Accurately process till transactions, including cash, card and other payment methods, in line with company policies.
• Promote Woolworths loyalty programmes and ancillary services like utility bill payments and airtime sales.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑organised till area, adhering to shop‑keeping standards.
• Check pricing accuracy by comparing scanned items with shelf tickets and resolve any discrepancies.
• Follow loss‑prevention procedures to minimise shrinkage and report any irregularities promptly.
• Use basic product knowledge to assist customers and support promotional events.

Required profile

• Minimum education: Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with friendly and effective communication.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage time efficiently during shifts.
• Reliability, honesty and a commitment to reducing shrinkage.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and willingness to be a proactive team member.
