About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant – Foods Merchandiser at the Boardwalk store in Gqeberha. You will support customers and maintain the food department by ensuring products are fresh, well‑presented and stocked according to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, answer queries and promote product options and promotions.
• Replenish shelves, rotate stock and maintain cold‑chain and hygiene standards.
• Identify and isolate damaged or expired items, process returns and report quality issues.
• Follow planograms, gap policies and keep the department clean and tidy.
• Monitor shrinkage, report suspicious activity and adhere to security procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification or equivalent (NQF level).
• Basic computer literacy for routine digital tasks.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, nights and weekends.
• Strong communication, punctuality and teamwork orientation.
• Attention to detail for stock management and food‑safety compliance.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy.
• Fundamental numeracy and literacy for stock records.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and cold‑chain handling.
