CSSD Manager – Cape Town

About the role

The Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) Manager will lead the CSSD unit in a busy healthcare facility in Cape Town. This full‑time position ensures that all instrument sets and linen packs are prepared, sterilised, and delivered to theatres and doctors’ rooms in line with infection‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the CSSD unit, meeting all operational and quality requirements.
• Control costs, manage budget, and maintain equipment and stock levels.
• Prevent theft and breakage of instruments and ensure accurate packing and sterilisation.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance with SHEQ and infection‑control policies.
• Promote the unit to clinicians and foster strong working relationships.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current SANC registration.
• Experience in operating‑theatre processes (scrubbing, flooring, anaesthetic induction) or a qualification in decontamination/sterilisation services.
• Previous experience managing a CSSD department is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage staff, and resolve conflicts.
