Critical Care Registered Nurse – Gauteng

About the role

Join a leading private hospital in Gauteng as a Critical Care Trained Registered Nurse. You will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care to critically ill patients in a fast‑paced ICU environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing in the ICU following hospital policies and best practices.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, continuously monitor vital signs, arterial blood gases, ECG rhythms and respond promptly to clinical changes.
• Manage ventilated, haemodynamically unstable and high‑acuity patients, operating advanced equipment such as mechanical ventilators, invasive monitoring devices, infusion pumps and renal replacement therapy equipment.
• Administer medications, intravenous therapies, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics and blood products safely according to physician orders.
• Assist with emergency procedures, resuscitations, intubations, central line insertions and other critical interventions.
• Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation, adhere to infection control measures and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior nursing staff, students and newly appointed team members.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with critical care training.
• Proven experience in an ICU setting handling high‑acuity patients.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
