Credit Controller – Personal & Commercial Lines

About the role

Hollard Insure is looking for a detail-oriented, proactive Credit Controller to join its Personal & Commercial Lines team in the Northern Region (Inland Region). The role sits at the heart of the business, partnering with brokers, intermediaries and internal stakeholders to ensure healthy premium collections, accurate account management and a seamless customer experience. The position is permanent, based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, with hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the collection of outstanding premiums and maintain healthy debtor accounts.
• Reconcile and allocate premiums received from brokers and intermediaries within agreed timelines.
• Dispatch premium statements, commission statements and EFT advices promptly and accurately.
• Manage unpaid debit orders, unallocated cash and account discrepancies.
• Carry out age analysis and bank reconciliations to support sound financial controls.
• Investigate and resolve exceptions arising from automated bordereaux uploads.
• Produce accurate monthly reporting and support national credit control initiatives.
• Build relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders to resolve queries efficiently.
• Identify process improvements that enhance operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• 3-4 years' experience in insurance credit control.
• Sound understanding of credit control principles and basic bookkeeping.
• Knowledge of commercial short-term insurance environments.
• Strong reconciliation and account management experience.
• Attention to detail, ownership of commitments, professional communication and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Advanced Excel functions (advantageous)
• Insurance finance systems (advantageous)
• NQF 4 or NQF 5 qualification in Short-Term Insurance (advantageous)
• Commercial underwriting administration or claims exposure (advantageous)
• Knowledge of insurance legislation and industry terminology (advantageous)
