Credit Controller – Debt Collection Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented Credit Controller to join our busy contact‑centre debt collection team in Pretoria. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of debtor accounts, follow up on outstanding payments, and support collection activities in line with company and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of debtor accounts, ensuring compliance with company and client policies.
• Contact customers via phone and approved channels to follow up on overdue accounts.
• Negotiate repayment arrangements within authorised limits.
• Conduct desktop tracing to update debtor contact details and improve contactability.
• Handle customer queries, disputes and account‑related enquiries professionally.
• Record accurate notes and updates in the CRM system after each interaction.
• Escalate unresolved or high‑risk matters to the appropriate supervisor.
• Support reporting requirements and provide feedback on account progress.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year credit control experience in a contact‑centre or debt‑collection environment.
• Strong administrative and query‑management abilities.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and professional communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, target‑driven setting.
• Reliability, punctuality and willingness to work fully on‑site in Pretoria.
