Credit Analyst – Fixed Income Team

About the role

The leading investment management organisation is looking for a Credit Analyst to join its Fixed Income team in Sandton/Centurion. You will shape credit portfolio outcomes through rigorous research, sector analysis and actionable recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive credit research across multiple sectors, industries and issuers to inform investment decisions.
• Monitor local and global fixed‑income market trends, including spreads, liquidity, interest rates and economic indicators.
• Identify emerging risks and opportunities and provide timely insights to the Fixed Income team.
• Perform detailed fundamental credit analysis on counterparties, issuers and debt instruments.
• Assess issuer financial strength, cash‑flow generation, leverage, liquidity and capital structure.
• Pre‑screen investment opportunities and deliver clear, data‑driven recommendations.
• Build and enhance corporate financial models and generate internal credit ratings.
• Prepare high‑quality analyst reports for governance committees.
• Develop quantitative credit risk models and drive efficiencies through automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s and Honours degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics.
• CFA or MCom in Finance/Risk Management (or working towards) is advantageous.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in banking or asset‑management environments.
• Practical experience with credit market securities, including structured securities.
• Proficiency in financial statement analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills.
