About the role
As the Country Manager for South Africa, you will translate Uber’s Sub‑Saharan Africa strategy into a country‑specific plan and execute it with an owner‑operator mindset. You will combine strategic thinking with hands‑on operational execution across low‑cost mobility, airport and event logistics, marketplace health, and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Own country‑level performance metrics such as trips, gross bookings, contribution margin, ETAs, cancellations, supply hours, active drivers, and compliance.
- Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews, KPI deep‑dives, risk tracking, and cross‑functional alignment.
- Partner with Strategy & Planning and Finance on annual planning, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Drive low‑cost mobility expansion, geographic rollout, supply‑sharing models, and partnership negotiations.
- Manage end‑to‑end rider and earner experience at major airports and event venues, securing premium access and wayfinding.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading large‑scale operations or country‑level business units.
- Strong stakeholder management with regulators, airports, fleet partners, and internal cross‑functional teams.
- Data‑driven decision‑making and ability to balance growth, profitability, and service quality.
