Cost Controller – Excellence Counts (Johannesburg)

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Cost Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will own the end‑to‑end cost management process, ensuring financial integrity and supporting strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor company costs to optimise resource utilisation.
• Review, process and validate invoices and purchase orders with high accuracy.
• Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs, reconciliations and related documentation.
• Reconcile supplier accounts, investigate discrepancies and drive resolutions.
• Handle corporate credit‑card reconciliations and expenditure reporting.
• Allocate expenses in line with company policies, controls and governance.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Identify and implement improvements to processes, controls and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cost control, accounts payable or a similar finance role.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate work.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive mindset with a natural ability to spot and resolve issues early.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with financial systems for invoicing, payments and reconciliations.
