Cost Accountant

About the role

The Cost Accountant will ensure that product, process and activity costs are accurate, consistent and decision‑ready, enabling management to make pricing, profitability and investment decisions based on reliable economic data.

Key responsibilities

• Define, own and continuously improve the organisation’s costing methodologies and policies.
• Maintain group‑wide consistency in cost measurement, reporting and alignment with IFRS and group accounting standards.
• Validate Bills of Materials, production routings, labour, machine and overhead rates, and correct any master‑data errors.
• Establish, update and communicate credible standard costs; run standard cost simulations and roll‑ups in the ERP system.
• Analyse cost variances, identify root causes and prepare explanations for management reporting.
• Provide cost transparency and decision support for pricing, tenders, make‑or‑buy analyses and margin assessments.
• Support auditors on costing methodology queries and educate finance and operations teams on policy application.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and standards.
• Experience with cost policy governance and standard costing processes.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, operations and finance.
• Detail‑oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
