Corporate Commercial Associate (Johannesburg)

About the role

We are seeking a driven Corporate Commercial Associate to join a leading legal practice in Johannesburg. This full‑time position offers the chance to work on high‑impact corporate transactions and provide strategic legal advice to a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate corporate and commercial agreements such as MOIs, shareholders' agreements, sale of business agreements and service level agreements.
• Provide strategic counsel on corporate governance, regulatory compliance and the Companies Act.
• Assist with M&A processes, including comprehensive legal due diligence.
• Liaise directly with corporate clients to understand objectives and mitigate legal risks.
• Manage complex corporate restructuring and B‑BBEE transactions.
• Stay current with South African legislative amendments and commercial case law.

Required profile

• LLB degree from a recognized university.
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Completion of Articles of Clerkship at a reputable firm.
• 1–3 years post‑admission experience focused on corporate and commercial law.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and commercial acumen with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and excellent client‑facing skills.
