Coordinator – Internal Communication Content & Platform Management

About the role

The University of the Free State is seeking a Coordinator to lead internal communication content and platform management. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Internal Communications, you will ensure that institutional messages are accurate, engaging and aligned with strategic priorities across all internal channels.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, publish and optimise internal communication content for the university’s platforms.
• Collaborate with faculties, support divisions and the Department of Communication and Marketing to deliver integrated communication campaigns.
• Manage the operational workflow of the Internal Communication Unit, including publication schedules, content approvals and compliance.
• Monitor audience engagement, produce performance reports and dashboards, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
• Oversee the creation of multimedia assets – digital storytelling, photography, videography and graphic design – to enhance audience reach.
• Support the university’s Content Hub by coordinating content planning, amplification and repurposing across channels.
• Provide ad‑hoc communication and administrative support, including participation in crisis communication when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Proven experience in internal communications, content management or related fields.
• Strong organisational and project‑management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse university stakeholders.
