Control Room Manager – Security

About the role

SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd is looking for a Control Room Manager to supervise its security employees and provide security services to the Group. The post reports to the Security Manager and covers monitoring of security cameras and alarms, fleet safety and incident investigation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage control room operators so that security cameras and alarms are monitored effectively
• Ensure the safety of the SA Metal fleet and activate responses
• Assist security managers with incident investigations, tracking and reporting
• Investigate theft, fraud, misconduct, accidents and safety breaches; gather, analyse and preserve evidence; interview witnesses, suspects and employees
• Draft detailed investigation reports with findings and recommendations, and liaise with law enforcement and other agencies when needed
• Monitor compliance with policies, security protocols and access control systems, and support disciplinary processes
• Develop standard operating procedures for the control room and train controllers to best practice
• Update employees' written task procedures, inspect the control room occurrence book daily and keep records accurate and on time
• Keep security and alarm systems operational, liaise with dispatch teams in emergencies and compile monthly reports
• Manage the control room team, including motivation, time and attendance, discipline and guidance

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
• Grade A PSIRA certificate
• At least 10 years' experience in a security control room environment
• At least 5 years' experience managing a security control room team
• Valid driver's licence and on-line vehicle tracking experience
• Proven management ability, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills

Required skills

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, CCTV)
• Technical knowledge of CCTV, deep alert and dial-up monitoring systems
• Excellent report writing skills

• Permanent position with standard hours of 06:00-18:00 (day shift) or 18:00-06:00 (night shift); overtime as required
