Contract Site Agent – Bridge Construction

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Site Agent to lead bridge construction and associated civil works on a major infrastructure project. The role involves planning, executing, supervising and ensuring quality, safety and commercial performance throughout the site lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and coordinate all bridge construction activities from site establishment to project completion.
• Supervise construction teams, subcontractors and plant resources to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
• Oversee reinforced concrete bridge works, foundations, piling, abutments, piers, decks, retaining structures, culverts and related civil works.
• Prepare and monitor construction programmes, track milestones and manage labour productivity, plant utilisation and material requirements.
• Conduct daily site meetings, provide progress reports to senior management and the client, and identify and mitigate project risks.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, environmental regulations and client contractual requirements.

Required profile

• NQF Level 6 qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum 6 years’ civil engineering construction experience, including at least 4 years as a Site Agent on bridge projects.
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate or Professional Engineering Technician/Technologist is advantageous.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote sites.
