Construction Manager

About the role

The Construction Manager will lead high‑voltage equipment projects within ACTOM’s Service Department. Reporting to the Senior Service Manager/Project Co‑ordinator, the role ensures that all construction activities comply with client specifications, safety legislation and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate site access, material delivery and tool availability for each project.
• Supervise the construction team, conduct toolbox talks and enforce PPE and safety standards.
• Prepare and sign ITPs, site instructions, checklists, hand‑over certificates and NCR reports.
• Maintain SHEQ files, risk assessments, permits and ensure all work follows OEM manuals and quality procedures.
• Compile failure and test reports, submit mileage, timesheets and expense claims on schedule.
• Report progress, abnormalities and incidents to the Project Co‑ordinator and SHEQ Officer.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or N6 equivalent).
• Minimum five years’ experience in construction management, preferably in high‑voltage environments.
• Registration with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP).
• Completion of general health & safety, OHS Act, incident investigation and accredited supervisor safety courses.
• Knowledge of high‑voltage regulations, equipotential earthing zones and legal liability requirements.
