Construction Expeditor

About the role

The Expeditor ensures that all materials, equipment and resources reach construction sites on time, supporting project schedules and minimizing delays. This position requires strong communication, multitasking and meticulous attention to detail to keep procurement and delivery processes running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate deliveries: track and expedite the delivery of construction materials, tools, and equipment from suppliers to job sites.
• Schedule and monitor deliveries: work closely with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to confirm and schedule deliveries, ensuring compliance with project timelines.
• Inventory management: keep detailed records of materials received, verify accuracy and quality, and maintain inventory levels to meet project needs.
• Problem‑solving: resolve delivery issues, discrepancies, and delays by collaborating with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Documentation: prepare and maintain delivery logs, shipping documents, and material receipts for project records.
• Communicate with project teams: collaborate with construction managers, project coordinators, and contractors to understand material needs and adjust delivery schedules accordingly.
• Assist with procurement: support the procurement team with material ordering, tracking orders, and ensuring availability for upcoming project phases.
• Ensure compliance: verify that all deliveries meet required safety standards and specifications.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar expediting role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to problem‑solve and think critically in high‑pressure situations.
• Familiarity with construction terminology and processes.
