Construction Buyer – Purchasing Specialist

About the role

Wilcrest Construction is looking for an experienced Construction Buyer to manage the procurement of building materials for projects in the Western Cape. The successful candidate will ensure that all supplies meet the company’s quality standards, are sourced at competitive prices, and are delivered on time to support production schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Research and evaluate prices and suppliers for construction materials.
• Coordinate with site managers to plan orders according to production timelines.
• Maintain accurate stock control and manage purchase orders.
• Monitor delivery schedules and follow up on any delays or short shipments.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction procurement or a similar purchasing role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation, organisational and planning abilities.
• Detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven and comfortable working with numbers.
• Residency in the Western Cape is mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
