About the role
The Confirmations Clerk supports the Accounts team by ensuring that every patient case is fully authorised and re‑authorised before claims are submitted. This role helps minimise financial risk through accurate data capture, effective communication and strict adherence to coding and contractual standards.
Key responsibilities
- Obtain authorisation and re‑authorisation for all identified patients to ensure fully paid claims.
- Capture relevant data and communicate it to all parties involved.
- Identify and refer risk cases to minimise financial exposure.
- Adhere to Level 2 clinical coding guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with confirmation procedures, contracts and legal requirements using available systems.
Required profile
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Experience in a clinical environment (desired).
Required skills
- AS400 patient administration system.
- B2B EMS (electronic message system) for authorisation checks and troubleshooting.
- Microsoft Office suite.
- Level 2 clinical coding.
- Knowledge of funder contracts and medical‑aid requirements.
