Compliance Officer – Finance (Grade 10/11)

About the role

Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS) provides retail and corporate financial services across South Africa. The role sits within the Finance Compliance team at the Menlyn office and supports the implementation of regulatory requirements and risk‑based compliance programmes for the business units.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret legislation and regulations, identify applicable laws for business units and assign risk ratings.
• Develop and maintain the compliance legislative universe and Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs).
• Design and execute monitoring plans, compile monitoring reports and ensure timely incident escalation.
• Provide guidance to management on policies, processes and controls to enable compliance.
• Research legislative developments, communicate changes to stakeholders and deliver training on regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years experience as a Compliance Officer in the financial services industry, preferably insurance.
• Legal or commercial degree; a PG Diploma in Compliance Management is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of compliance risk management, monitoring programmes and regulations such as FAIS, FICA, LTIA, PPR and POPIA.
• Behavioural competencies: manages complexity, instils trust, optimises work processes, ensures accountability and demonstrates organisational savvy.
