Community Liaison Officer for Construction Project

About the role

The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) will act as the bridge between the local community of Ward 27 and the contractor responsible for the Mechanical Works on the Mathyzensloop to Kwaggafontein Pump Station project.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate communication and liaison between the community, the Project Steering Committee, the municipality and the contractor.
• Maintain and reference a database of local resources, ensuring the contractor has access to unskilled labour from the area.
• Keep the contractor and municipal officials informed of community dynamics, issues and opportunities.
• Assist the contractor’s supervisory staff in managing workers and report monthly on local involvement, training and equity status.

Required profile

• South African citizen, fluent in English and local African languages.
• Resident of Ward 27 with thorough knowledge of the area and currently unemployed.
• Willingness to work under difficult conditions, including weekends.
• Must not be a contractor or subcontractor.

Required skills

• Conflict resolution abilities.
• Organisational development experience.
• Understanding of construction processes and ability to communicate with contractors and subcontractors.
