Community Engineer (multiple roles & seniority levels)

About the role

We are seeking passionate Community Engineers to shape and scale global open‑source communities that power widely used Linux‑based technologies. Working fully remote, you will act as a bridge between developers, contributors, and internal engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and scale community programs that increase engagement across open‑source ecosystems.
• Serve as liaison between contributors and product, engineering, and developer‑relations teams.
• Improve contribution workflows, reduce friction and enable successful delivery of technical projects.
• Create high‑quality written content such as blog posts, updates and documentation.
• Engage with communities on forums, chat platforms, social channels and events.
• Represent the organization at conferences, meet‑ups and industry events.
• Identify and drive improvements to community tooling, processes and contributor experience.

Required profile

• Strong passion for open‑source software and Linux ecosystems.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with open‑source communities with a visible public track record (e.g., GitHub contributions, talks, blog posts).
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and program‑management abilities.
