About the role
We are seeking a Commercial Underwriter to join a small, reputable brokerage serving the Durban North area. The role involves underwriting commercial and personal lines, managing claims, and providing comprehensive policy administration while maintaining strong client and insurer relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Underwrite commercial insurance contracts and personal lines policies.
- Manage claims and ensure timely resolution.
- Administer general policy and insurance documentation.
- Serve clients and liaise with insurers to address queries and negotiate terms.
Required profile
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- 2 to 5 years of commercial underwriting experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance and short‑term insurance administration from a brokerage perspective.
- Exposure to claims and personal lines is an advantage.
- NQF Level 4 Short‑Term Insurance qualification (150 FAIS credits) and RE5 certification are beneficial.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
