Commercial Manager

About the role

Our client, a globally recognised leader in fresh produce, is expanding its plant‑variety distribution network across South Africa and the wider SADC region. The Commercial Manager will drive strategic growth, optimise operations and nurture key industry relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and refine the regional distribution model to maximise market reach.
• Manage proprietary licensing agreements with producers, nurseries and distributors.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities while strengthening existing partnerships.
• Coordinate plant‑material importation, quarantine and logistics to ensure seamless variety deployment.
• Prepare operational, financial and performance reports and support budgeting processes.
• Conduct field and nursery visits, address grower concerns and monitor quality standards.
• Lead industry events, field days and gather stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the Technical Team to identify efficiencies, mitigate risks and support strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of commercial or managerial experience in agriculture or FMCG.
• Strong business development and relationship‑management capabilities.
• Proven track record coordinating complex logistical and licensing operations.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and reporting abilities.
