Commercial Manager – Container Line (Africa)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead our container line operations across Africa. The role will drive commercial growth, strengthen key customer relationships and expand our market presence in South Africa, Egypt, Tanzania and Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Drive commercial and sales performance of the Shipping Agency office independently.
• Develop and execute strategies to achieve revenue, profitability and market‑share targets.
• Build, manage and strengthen relationships with customers, principals, freight forwarders and other stakeholders.
• Identify new business opportunities and expand the company’s presence in the shipping and logistics market.
• Lead negotiations, prepare commercial proposals and close strategic deals.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities and customer requirements to spot growth opportunities.
• Lead, mentor and support the commercial team to meet business objectives.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive account management.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in commercial, sales, liner or shipping agency operations.
• Mandatory experience with a Container Line (Liner Shipping Company).
• Experience across Asia, the Gulf or Africa is acceptable.
• Proven track record in commercial management, client acquisition and business development.
• Ability to independently manage commercial operations and achieve targets.
