Commercial Contract Manager – Legal Team

About the role

The Business Legal team at Mimecast is seeking a Commercial Contract Manager to join a fast‑paced, global legal sub‑team. Based in Johannesburg, you will support all Mimecast regions, handling contract negotiations, risk assessment, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice and support to internal stakeholders on contractual negotiations and queries.
• Ensure compliance with company contracting policies, processes, and procedures.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts including vendor, customer, BAA, DPA, partner agreements, and NDAs.
• Prepare final contract versions, obtain legal approvals, and coordinate signatures.
• Support the deal‑support desk with standard contractual changes and respond to legal inbox queries.
• Assist with RFI/RFP responses, legal due diligence, and end‑of‑quarter/year deal‑room activities.
• Maintain contractual templates, version control, and organized document repositories.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent law degree.
• Proven experience in contract negotiation and drafting.
• Strong analytical ability with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk and business objectives.
• Ability to prioritize, adapt to changing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Sound contract negotiation and drafting capabilities.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, POPIA, GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA.
• Proficiency in managing contractual documentation and version control.
