Cloud Architect – 12‑Month Contract (Hybrid)

About the role

Our financial services client in Johannesburg is seeking a Cloud Architect on a 12‑month contract to lead the design, migration and optimisation of their cloud environment. The role is hybrid, combining on‑site collaboration with remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cloud architecture standards, frameworks and roadmaps.
• Design secure, scalable, highly‑available solutions across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
• Lead cloud migration and modernisation programmes, ensuring compliance with security, risk and regulatory requirements.
• Drive cloud governance, automation, operational excellence and cost optimisation (FinOps).
• Provide architectural leadership for cloud, data, AI and digital transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineering, security teams and technology partners.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 and a degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in cloud architecture.
• Proven delivery of enterprise‑scale cloud solutions and migration programmes.
• Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Google Cloud Architect, TOGAF, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or FinOps Practitioner are advantageous.
