Clinical Technician

About the role

The Clinical Technician will maintain medical equipment and provide technical support to users within the hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the hospital.
• Perform requested technical jobs within the hospital.
• Identify and control risk in the technical environment.
• Coordinate and manage work performed by on‑site contractors.
• Carry out office administration duties for the technical department.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relations and client service within the technical department.

Required profile

• Essential: NQF 6 Diploma in Electrical Engineering (light current or clinical engineering).
• Desired: NQF 6 Diploma in Clinical Engineering.
• Essential certification: Valid driver’s licence.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical engineering experience in the healthcare industry.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Infection control procedures.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Suite.
• Planned maintenance procedures for medical equipment and X‑ray devices.
• Use of SAP and interpretation of SAP reports.
• Understanding of financial principles for cost‑effective maintenance.
• Familiarity with Mediclinic policies and procedures, including test equipment utilisation.
