Clinical Software Developer – Risk Intelligence

About the role

Discovery Health’s Risk Intelligence – Clinical Tool Intelligence team is looking for a motivated software developer to maintain, enhance, and create high‑performance clinical grouper applications. You will work with large volumes of claims, authorisation and clinical data, supporting analysts, actuaries and data scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Become fully familiar with existing C/C++ models and maintain/enhance them.
• Design and develop new software models and functionality.
• Execute daily and monthly production runs, preparing input files using C/C++, SQL and shell scripts.
• Develop ad‑hoc programs and web‑based front‑ends to enable self‑service for the team.
• Work independently to solve technical challenges and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Participate in off‑hours production runs with time‑off compensation.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work autonomously.
• Experience handling large data sets and performance‑critical applications.
• Willingness to explore new languages or frameworks (e.g., Python) while maintaining C/C++ expertise.
• Comfortable with production‑run schedules that may extend beyond regular office hours.
