Clinical Nurse (R/N) – 12‑Month ICU Position

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (R/N) will join the intensive care unit at Netcare Milpark Hospital for a 12‑month assignment. You will provide holistic, person‑centred nursing care to critically ill patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care for ICU patients.
• Act as a clinical resource, supporting staff in documentation, care planning and evaluation.
• Communicate effectively with families and health professionals, advocating for optimal patient outcomes.
• Coordinate care between nursing management and the unit to resolve patient‑care issues.
• Initiate and lead emergency resuscitation (RESUS) when required across the hospital.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop nursing care plans and contribute to treatment decisions.
• Maintain accurate shift documentation reflecting patient status, staffing ratios and identified problems.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a post‑basic qualification in critical care or a related specialty.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver advanced nursing care within established SOPs and nursing theories.
• Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families and the health‑care team.
• Capability to act as a patient advocate and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
• Preparedness to respond swiftly to emergency situations and perform RESUS.
